On the third anniversary of the August 4, 2020, explosion in the port of Beirut, the Lebanese diaspora is showing solidarity with their compatriots back home.

On Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, the Lebanese diaspora in Brazil initiated the commemoration ahead of Beirut with a gathering at 6 a.m. Rio time (noon Beirut time), during which roses and Lebanese flags were planted in the sand, each flower bearing the name of a victim.

In Paris, a rally organised by the Lebanese-French Coordination Committee is scheduled for this afternoon at Place du Trocadéro. Participants will then move on to Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine) for a moment of reflection around a cedar of Lebanon in front of Courbevoie town hall. Other gatherings are planned in Toulouse, at Place du Capitole.

Events are also planned in Canada, where mass will be held in Maronite churches in tribute to the victims.

More rallies are scheduled in Berlin in front of the Lebanese embassy, in Grenoble at Place Victor Hugo, and in Los Angeles in front of the city hall.
