Caretaker Minister of Health Firas Abiad stated on Monday that “the results of tests conducted on samples taken from a restaurant in the Bekaa showed that the water used to wash vegetables and the ice served in the establishment were contaminated.”

On July 24, the restaurant was closed by the Ministry of Health as a precautionary measure following reports of food poisoning among around sixty people.

During a press conference, Mr. Abiad specified that out of the 60 people affected, four had to be hospitalized. All of them are now in good health.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the restaurant would remain closed to allow them to implement the necessary sanitary measures.
