As the 6th most spoken language worldwide, for a long time Arabic has lacked a globally recognized certification test. But fear not, a game-changing initiative has emerged. The Center for Research in Translation Studies – Arabic Terminology and Languages (CERTTAL) and the Center for Arabic Research and Studies (CREA) at Saint Joseph University – Beirut have taken the lead. Two new certifications, evaluating students’ spoken and written proficiency, have been introduced: DALE (Arabic as a Foreign Language Diploma) and DALS (Arabic for Special Purposes Diploma).
