Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea has stated that the Quintet Committee’s declaration has invalidated the obstructionist strategy, urging Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri to swiftly convene a presidential election session. The committee’s statement, which is grounded in the Lebanese Constitution, international resolutions, and decisions of the Arab League, definitively undermines the efforts of obstructing parties to exploit the support of Lebanon’s allies for their own gain or impede the presidential elections.

Moreover, it is evident that all participants in the Doha meeting firmly believe in a straightforward solution to the crisis: “parliamentary blocs and individuals must fulfill their responsibilities by electing a president, appointing a prime minister, and forming the future government, in line with the constitutional process.”

Lebanon’s strategic allies emphasize the need for an effective state with internal decision-making authority and the implementation of international resolutions. Calling for an end to the obstructionist forces’ time-wasting tactics, Geagea urged the Speaker of Parliament to promptly initiate consecutive presidential election sessions. The obstructionist camp bears the responsibility for the current suffering of the Lebanese people, including poverty, disasters, and migration, and the weight of their accountability will only increase with each additional day they hinder the presidential elections.
