Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transport Ali Hamieh said that the Beirut Port and airport are fully prepared to accompany the drilling work in Block 9, which will begin during the last week of August.

Hamieh made this statement on Wednesday morning during a meeting with TotalEnergies Director General of Exploration and Production Romain De La Martiniere. Also present were the Director General of the Beirut Port Omar Itani, the Director General of Civil Aviation Fadi Al-Hassan, and members of the Board of Directors of the Lebanese Petroleum Administration.

The participants were involved in the discussions between the Ministry of Public Works and TotalEnergies, particularly as concerns the procedures, facilities, and logistical matters that the Beirut Port and airport will be required to provide for oil and gas exploration in Block 9.

De La Martiniere noted that talks between TotalEnergies and the Ministry of Public Works have been cooperative, and this extends to the relevant departments at the Beirut Port and airport. He stressed that this cooperation will positively reflect on the launch of drilling operations.
