The 100% electric car “Lira” is made in Lebanon for the general public and was unveiled with great pomp on Saturday. Without any public or private support, engineer Hicham Hosseimy had to overcome all odds to design this car. This innovation underlines the industrial potential of Lebanon, and in particular the city of Tripoli, from which the engineer hails. When the car goes on the market, its selling price will be between USD 3,500 and USD 15,000, depending on the model chosen. The car presented to the general public on Saturday can reach a speed of 55 km per hour, but future models are expected to reach 100 km per hour.
