A fire started on Palm Island, facing the northern coastal city of Tripoli, on Thursday afternoon.
According to local broadcaster MTV, citizens visiting the island pleaded with the official authorities to send help.
The Civil Defense operation room told This Is Beirut that there was no threat to people’s lives and that the incident was probably the result of someone wrongly handling a BBQ, which led to some bushes catching fire.
