Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Rai said that “Lebanon, as a state, is disintegrating because of the stubbornness and personal interests of certain politicians.”

In his Sunday sermon at the St. John the Baptist Monastery in Deir Hrach (Keserwan), Rai stressed that the process of electing a president is “very easy if Parliament follows the rules that lead to it, namely the constitutional procedures.”

Rai called for prayers for the Lebanese people “who are becoming poorer day by day because of politicians who neglect the country’s capacities and potential. They alone are responsible for the impoverishment of the Lebanese, their humiliation, and their departure from Lebanon,” Rai insisted.
