The Electricité du Liban (EDL) employees’ union announced on Monday, June 19 that they were maintaining their strike, for the third time, until Friday, June 23.

Initially observed on June 13 and 15, the strike had been extended until Monday, June 19.

During the strike, no invoices are issued. Only maintenance services and operations at the main relay stations and the coordination department remain functional.

The union believes that to date, no action has been taken by the administration to respond to the demands of EDL employees.

EDL employees are calling on caretaker Minister of Finance Youssef al-Khalil to implement the planned preferential tariffs, prepare specifications for the signing of a contract with an insurance company and provide financial support in fresh dollars.
