In his first official intervention since the support of the opposition for his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic, the former Minister of Finance, Jihad Azour, assured that he is not a confrontation candidate but that he has a single mission, that of “getting the country out of the abnormal situation in which it finds itself”.

In a statement issued on Monday morning, two days before Wednesday’s parliamentary session, Azour also claimed that he “stands outside political and community alignments”. He also expressed the hope that his candidacy will be a source of hope for the MPs who will meet on Wednesday to elect a head of state.
