The 2nd International Salt Fair, organized by Fair Trade Lebanon in collaboration with the Association for the Development of Rural Capacities (ADR) and the MedArtSal (Mediterranean Artisanal Salt) consortium, reached an impressive conclusion on June 9th, 2023. The fair celebrated sustainable business models in artisanal Salinas, while promoting traditional production methods and preserving biodiversity in the enchanting town of Anfeh.

Following the immersive tour of Anfeh’s salt production sites, a visit to the Salt Museum awaited. Within its walls, the history and techniques of salt production were proudly displayed. Subsequently, during an elegant cocktail event, the caretaker Ministers of Environment, Nasser Yassine, and Tourism, Walid Nassar, announced new tourist locations in Anfeh. This strategic endeavor aims to safeguard the cultural significance of the salt industry while simultaneously bolstering tourism in the region.

Ras el-Malalih, Ras el Kalaa, and the Deir Saydit el-Natour area have attained esteemed recognition as official historical landmarks, both within Lebanon and on a global scale. These iconic sites stand as testament to the region’s extraordinary history and heritage, alluring visitors from far and wide.
