Lebanon’s ambassador to France, Rami Adwan, was recalled to Beirut on Thursday.

Adwan is undergoing an investigation following complaints filed against him in Paris by two former embassy employees who accuse him of rape and verbal and physical violence.

Ziad Taan, counselor at the embassy, has been in charge of the Lebanese diplomatic mission in France since June 7.

A Lebanese foreign minister’s delegation was dispatched to Paris on Tuesday to follow up on Adwan’s case. It included the Secretary General of the Ministry, Hani Chmaytelli, and the Director of the Investigations Department, Hadi Hachem.

The fact-finding commission was to collect testimonies from embassy officials and meet the French authorities concerned in order to take the necessary decisions.
