MP Walid Baarini, member of the National Moderation parliamentary bloc, refrained from giving the slightest detail about the bloc’s voting intentions at the parliamentary electoral session on the June 14.

In a radio statement on June 06, Mr. Baarini said that all the members of the bloc – Mohammad Sleiman, Ahmed El-Khair, Abdul-Aziz El-Samad, Sajih Attieh, and Ahmad Rustom – will be present at Parliament next Wednesday (June 14), adding that their vote “will be kept secret, in accordance with the Constitution.”

He did, however, reveal the bloc’s plan to hold a meeting, an hour before the electoral session, with the parliamentary parties with whom they were in contact regarding the presidential election. “Our aim is to come up with a common formula,” he noted.

Responding to a question, Mr. Baarini also assured that the position of the National Moderation bloc is always aligned with that of Saudi Arabia. “Riyadh has not suggested though any name (of a candidate for the presidency), nor has it expressed opposition to any candidate.” He finally stressed “the need to elect a President of the Republic.”
