MP Michel Moawad said on Monday that it is not important to convene Parliament for the election of a president, as the Axis is capable of provoking a default in the quorum.

In an interview with al-Hadath TV channel, the MP said that it has become clear to France that most parliamentary blocs do not want former Minister and MP Sleiman Frangieh as President.

“The “Sleiman Frangieh or the void” proposal is nothing more than a plan to dominate Lebanon,” he said. “Moreover, any other candidate is considered confrontational by the opposing camp.”

Commenting on the opposition’s support for the candidacy of former Minister Jihad Azour, Moawad explained that this choice was the result of a convergence between the opposition forces and the Free Patriotic Movement, supposedly Hezbollah’s ally. “We can obtain the 65 votes needed to elect Jihad Azour,” he concluded.
