Strong Republic bloc member MP Pierre Bou Assi met with French President Emmanuel Macron’s advisor Ambassador Patrick Durel on Sunday during his French tour. The meeting lasted for over an hour and a half. Durel is charged with following up on the Lebanese dossier.

During the meeting, Bou Assi and Durel discussed Lebanese current affairs on all fronts: economic, political, and social. Both parties agreed on the need to put an end to the presidential vacuum through the adequate constitutional means.

Bou Assi also stressed the urgency of finding a swift solution that would get the Syrian refugees to return to their home country, claiming that their presence in Lebanon poses an existential danger to the country.

Bou Assi further urged France to spearhead an initiative to form a fact-finding committee to investigate the Beirut Port blast of August 4, 2020.

The Lebanese Forces MP later headed to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he held several meetings revolving around the same agenda.
