Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi said that he is “working to ensure a stable summer for the Lebanese people and tourists.” He also expressed hope that “Arabs will be received in large numbers and that the Lebanese expatriates will return.”

In an event at the General Directorate of General Security held today, June 1, Mawlawi said that “the country is going through difficult conditions, but the General Security and all security forces are overcoming them.”

“Despite the challenging circumstances, we are fulfilling our role as required, and our performance remains unaffected,” he added.

Mawlawi viewed that “addressing the Syrian refugees crisis is a pressing and challenging issue that the political authority is working to address, as the Lebanese continue to bear its consequences,” and emphasized that “it is imperative to approach the matter in accordance with the supreme national interest and the laws.”
