The public relations department of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced on Thursday the arrest of a Syrian counterfeiter.

The ISF stated that “the Inquisition Unit of the North in the regional police unit discovered a gang forging Lebanese residency documents for Syrian nationals in exchange for $70 per document, and that the unit managed to acquire several pictures of those documents.”

The statement added that “on May 19 2023, and after proper probing and intensive investigations, a patrol affiliated with the unit managed to ambush one of the suspects in Tripoli and captured him in his golden Hyundai van.”

“The suspect, M. Kh. (Syrian national, born in 1985) was caught carrying a forged residency document which he was set to deliver to another Syrian national. The investigation is being carried out through judiciary channels and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the gang.”
