Maronite Patriarch Bechara Raï deplored that “for seven months now, no member of Parliament has dared to denounce the obstruction of the election of a President of the Republic, as well as the impoverishment of the people and the destruction of the State and its institutions, because of personal or partisan interests.”

During his homily on Sunday, he expressed feelings of regret, stating that “politicians have stifled the voice of conscience for the benefit of their interests.”

He paid tribute to Catholic schools, encouraging them to continue their mission in the service of young people who need to acquire the necessary cultural and spiritual foundations.

Raï also asked party leaders: “What education do you provide to your youth? What loyalty to the homeland do you nurture in them?”

He added: “What we need in Lebanon is to form a youth loyal to Lebanon, not to other people or to another country! Courageous young people who believe in dialogue, are free to speak the truth, and have the courage to listen to the voice of conscience against all that opposes justice, love, and the spirit of peace.”
