Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab paid a visit to Lebanese Forces Party Chief Samir Geagea in Meerab on Saturday. During their meeting, they discussed the obstacles pertaining to the second phase of Bou Saab’s initiative to unblock the presidential election.

“This visit is part of my ongoing diplomatic tour of political leaders aimed at reaching a consensus,” stated Bou Saab, who said that this visit was “positive.”

He further stated that “significant progress has been made, and all the obstacles that previously impeded the advancement of the second phase of the agreed-upon initiative with political parties have now been successfully resolved.”

“I met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri two days ago. While there is no magical solution for the election of a new president, we have initiated a constructive dialogue to determine what is feasible and what is not,” declared the Metn MP.

He added, “We are engaged in collective deliberation, and our discussions with all relevant parties are focused on the roadmap that we should follow. We are carefully evaluating the steps preceding the nomination stage, and we did not mention a specific name today.”
