Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi, issued a letter to the Ministry of Telecommunications, requesting the suspension of the “Bolt” Application as of Monday 8th of May, 2023.
The application would remain suspended, pending the verification of its company’s official documents. This decision is due to filed complaints and pressure, exerted by the Unions of Public Transport Drivers.
In addition, Mawlawi also included the pursuit of public transport drivers with fake license plates, as well as drivers who use privately registered vehicles.
Public vehicle drivers had been staging recurrent protests in several regions, decrying the mismanagement of the public transport sector, and the deterioration of their living conditions.
