Syrian state media reported on Thursday that four soldiers were wounded by an Israeli strike in central Syria, citing a military statement.

The statement said the strike also caused “material losses,” with no further details.

Earlier Syrian reports had claimed that explosions had been heard at the Shayrat air base in Homs. Israel has not commented on the alleged strike, which came almost a week after a reported Israeli attack on a Hezbollah convoy crossing the Lebanese border near the Syrian village of Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali, located around 20 miles southwest of Homs.

Israel has been carrying out airstrikes in Syria since the start of the country’s civil war in 2011, mainly targeting attempts to transfer weapons to the Iranian-backed Hezbollah or preventing Iranian fighters from gaining a foothold near the Israeli border.
