The Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) reported on Friday that Lebanon’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May 2024 increased by 0.02% compared to April 2024. This rise is notably modest in contrast to the significant increases recorded in 2023 (33.27% in March and 5.35% in May).

CAS further specified in their statement that the CPI showed a year-on-year increase of 51.59%.

The largest increases were observed in the mohafazat (governorate) of Nabatiyeh (3.04%), followed by North Lebanon (2.66%), Mount Lebanon (1.83%), Beirut (1.47%), the Bekaa (1.06%) and South Lebanon (0.27%).
