The General Directorate of the Land Registry announced on Thursday that “the cadastral secretariats in Mount Lebanon will deliver the second batch of payment orders and the third batch of ready title deeds to the parties concerned or their proxies tomorrow, Friday, March 22, 2024, according to a reception mechanism that has already been determined.” Title deeds can be collected from the land registry offices in Baabda, Aley and Chouf.

In a press release, the  Directorate asked those concerned to go to its website and consult the “Latest news” section in order to ensure the presence of the title deed belonging to them. They are also asked to bring two LBP 50,000 stamps with them or to purchase them from accredited financial companies.

The land registry services in Mount Lebanon, which include those in Baabda, Aley, Metn, Chouf, Jounieh and Jbeil, have been closed since October 2022 due to the prosecution of 124 officials for corruption following allegations of bribery. More than 50,000 land registration formalities are pending, representing a huge loss of revenue for the Treasury.

However, on January 22, at the request of caretaker Finance Minister Youssef el-Khalil, the land and cadastral administration offices in Mount Lebanon resumed work internally to process the backlog of applications and transactions.
