The Director General of Civil Aviation, Fadi Al-Hassan, stated that the circular issued on Friday by Beirut International Airport (BIA) is in line with the emergency plan developed two weeks ago at the government’s initiative. This circular outlines, in the finest detail, the measures that will be taken within the airport premises in the event of a serious security development related to the war in Gaza.

In this context, Al-Hassan emphasized that the airport is operating as usual, specifying that the number of daily arrivals ranges from 4,000 to 5,000 passengers, while departures fluctuate between 6,000 and 7,000. He assessed that these figures are quite reasonable given the current circumstances.

In an interview with OTV television channel, Al-Hassan stated that so far, only the two companies, Lufthansa and Saudi Airlines have suspended their flights to and from Beirut, while all other companies have not modified their flight schedules.

Regarding BIA’s Duty Free, Al-Hassan pointed out that it remains accessible to passengers and that no merchandise has been pulled out.
