The President of the Syndicate of Travel Agencies, Jean Abboud, has expressed satisfaction over the results of tourism activities achieved so far, as the figures have exceeded all expectations.

“The summer season is very promising, and the tourist flow is significant at all levels,” he said in a press release.

Abboud announced that since the beginning of the season, 125 planes have been landing daily at Beirut International Airport (BEY), compared to 90 planes on other days of the year. Similarly, the number of people flocking to Lebanon is now exceeding 21,000 passengers per day.

According to Abboud, the number of people coming to spend their vacations in Lebanon is expected to surpass two million during the season, including more than 800,000 Arab and foreign tourists. In addition, he estimated that more than 1.7 million Arab and foreign tourists would have visited Lebanon during 2023.  Abboud noted that in the first four months of the current year, 400,000 tourists entered Lebanon.

He also underlined that the number of foreign tourists spending their summer in Lebanon rose from 30% in 2022 to 40% in 2023, including European tourists making up 40% of the total number of foreign visitors. The percentage of Jordanian, Iraqi, and Egyptian tourists has also increased from 30% to 35%.

Abboud noted, however, that the number of tourists coming from the Gulf region remains low “despite political agreements in the region.”
