Head of the General Confederation of Lebanese Workers (GCLW) Bechara Asmar has issued a statement calling on authorities to control the staggering rise in prices in all sectors of food, tourism, services, and trade.

He declared that the government needs to find urgent legal means to halt price hikes in the exceptional circumstances the country is going through in order to protect citizens and promote the touristic season and Lebanon’s reputation abroad.

The unionist expressed his support for the measures taken by the Minister of Economy and the Consumer Protection Directorate, given the limited human resources and capacities at their disposal.
