The Jacques Ouaiss Gallery presents a panorama of talents, hosting an exhibition initiated by Lorraine Ouaiss as part of its “exhibition series.” This showcase of the work of eight artists and creators opened with a vernissage on December 14th, inviting art enthusiasts to explore a diverse array of works until December 31st, from 10 AM to 6 PM at 250 Selim Boutros Street.
Among the featured artists, Minnie stands out with her unique approach to the world of ceramics. Eschewing the label of “artist,” she engages with her craft with overflowing sensitivity and creativity, producing works inspired by organic forms such as mushrooms, underwater landscapes, and cacti. Her unpretentious, dreamlike world captures the essence of her natural talent.
Nina Salem Shabb, another ceramic artist, offers a fascinating exploration of the interplay between human experience and the natural world. Drawing inspiration from her career as a pathologist, her works reflect the beauty of life observed under a microscope, merging art and science in a studio located in her ancestral village in northern Lebanon.
Nayla Tabet, hailing from Lebanon and raised in the south of France, provides a unique perspective on nature through her metallic tree creations. A graduate of the CERAM Sophia Antipolis Superior School of Commerce and the Paris Institute of Political Studies, she skillfully blends art history with contemporary creation.
Daniele Homsi’s ceramic work evokes order and disorder, symmetry and whimsy. Each piece is a product of her fertile imagination and meticulous handiwork, demonstrating exceptional technical mastery and artistic vision.
Gummy Studios, co-founded by Daniela Zammar and Flo Husseini, immerses us in a striking visual universe. Their “Striking Senses” collection at the Jacques Ouaiss Gallery invites viewers on a sensory and emotional journey, where each image tells a captivating story.
Nayla Sirgi’s ceramics, with her “Troubled Waters” and “Totems” series, delve into the limits of clay and its boundless possibilities. Her works reflect a constant search for balance and harmony, showcasing her unwavering passion for ceramic art.
Dorine Dahdah, also a ceramic expert, is the artist behind the grand totem. Her creations, inspired by ritual sculptures, blend various forms, colors, and textures. They convey stories and emotions, harmonizing tradition with modernity.
Finally, Jules Bakhos, a versatile Lebanese artist, employs mixed media to create works that challenge conventions. His education at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA) has led him to experiment with a variety of materials, offering a refreshing and innovative perspective.
