American actor Matthew Perry, renowned for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on the acclaimed television series Friends, has been interred at a cemetery in Los Angeles on November 3, 2023. The private burial, held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, was attended by his close relatives and former colleagues from the series.

Having openly struggled with addiction and health issues for many years, Perry’s legacy extends beyond his acting career. His commitment to aid those afflicted by addiction is perpetuated through the establishment of the Matthew Perry Foundation. The organization aims to embody Perry’s lifelong dedication to supporting individuals battling addiction, in alignment with his desire to be remembered for his contributions to this cause above his role on Friends. The actor’s own statement poignantly encapsulates this mission, “When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned. I want helping others to be the first thing that’s mentioned. And I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that. Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone… but together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”
Matthew Perry, aged 54 at the time of his death, was discovered deceased on October 28, with no immediate cause identified. The results of the initial autopsy proved inconclusive, and further toxicological analysis is pending. Despite no illicit substances being found at his residence, reports indicate the presence of various prescription medications.
