Zeina Saleh Kayali and Joseph Maroun, the co-founders of the Beit Tabaris Art Residence, are set to host an exhibition celebrating artistic movement, curated by Randa Sadaka. This event culminates the annual trilogy by Patrick Hobeika, with some pieces previously showcased at Rebirth Beirut in April 2023 and at the Cervantes Institute in July 2023.

Patrick Hobeika’s treatment of space evokes strong emotion and empathy, allowing viewers to delve into the intimacy of the characters portrayed. He employs various techniques to create the illusion of movement, such as the blurring of lines, the partitioning of lines, and the juxtaposition of shapes.

“The color is the rhythm and movement of my life,” as stated by Robert Delaunay. Hobeika centralizes this sentiment in his artistic concerns, invigorating his composition through a dynamic chromatic palette. By doing so, he integrates a historical legacy with themes pertinent to contemporary life.

Through meticulous arrangement on the canvas, form emerges from color, triggering sensations that are enveloped by abstract structures. These structures are reminiscent of the Orphic modernity from the early 20th century.

The exhibition opening will be held on September 14, 2023, commencing at 6:30 p.m. A poetic performance by Maya Trad will take place at 7 p.m. To enhance the immersion experience for attendees, an “art food” appetizer created by Patrick Hobeika will be available.

The exhibition will continue until September 21, 2023. Visitors can access Beit Tabaris by appointment, with Hobeika in attendance.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1984, Patrick Hobeika is an alumnus of USEK, holding a degree in Interior Design. He has been part of numerous solo and group exhibitions. Notably, his paintings are included in the collection of Lebanon’s Ministry of Culture.
