“The Art of Slow” pop-up show is scheduled to take place from June 16 to June 25 at Arthaus, Gemmayze, Beirut. It will run from 12 am to 8 pm and will showcase an eclectic collection featuring more than 60 artworks created based on various artistic techniques, namely painting, sculpting, mixed media, collage, digital art, ceramics and concrete art. The show will also include cultural and artistic activities.

The Art of Slow is a mindset whereby one curates a more meaningful and conscious lifestyle, taking a step back from today’s chaotic life in the tumultuous city of Beirut and embracing an everyday simpler life at a slower pace, while savoring every moment.

The pop-up show will present the thematic collection prepared by the 4th selection of artists and artisans around The Art of Slow theme. The season 4 program brings together 12 emergent and confirmed artists and artisans such as Mahassen Ajam, Monique Chebli, Maral Der Boghossian, Myçal El Khouri, Dana Halawani, Mona Hawa, Roberta Khouri, Elise Marajel, Joy Najm, Liane Mathes Rabbath, Sara Saba and Janine Weber-ElMeouchy. The artists of the AOB Boutique sub-initiative to participate in the show are Paulette Eid, Karin Hantes, Nevine Mattar, Nicole Mezher and Michèle Zehil. Furthermore, the main show guest will be Mona Trad Dabaji, who will be presenting a selection of her art pieces. In addition, the show will feature a special presentation of undisclosed sculptures by the late Gulene Torossian Der Boghossian, showcased alongside her daughter’s paintings. The event will also include the participation of artists affiliated with the Artists of Beirut Boutique sub-initiative, who will be showcasing their distinctive artistic pieces.

The Artists of Beirut initiative was launched by Carole Ayoub and Yara Jahchan in September 2020. This socially responsible initiative and concept aims at fostering Lebanon’s creative economy by promoting and nurturing the creative talents of Lebanese women artists and artisans. Simultaneously, the initative aims to support the restoration and preservation of Beirut’s cultural heritage.

Program and activities:
– A drawing workshop with the show guest Mona Trad Dabaji on Monday, June 19 from 11.00 a.m to 12.30 p.m.

– A thematic conversation with the artists around the theme of La Slow Life under Beirut Sun moderated by the author, editor and journalist Tania Mehanna on Wednesday, June 21, at 11.00 a.m., an event to be transmitted live on social media.

– A relaxation session presented by artist and yoga Teacher Monique Chebli on Friday, June 23 from 11 a.m. till 12 p.m..

In line with the mission of Artists of Beirut, the show will contribute to the restoration efforts in Beirut. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be directed toward the Beirut Heritage Initiative, an NGO striving to restore the built and cultural heritage of Beirut.
