May 26th and 27th are dates to remember. BBIMF is back with a new summer edition focused on rap, hip hop, and trap. They will be showcasing the selected artists for the Rap & Beyond Residency at the end of their stay in Beirut.

After a full-fledged 2023 edition in February, Beirut and Beyond International Music Festival comes back with a summer edition shedding the spotlight on womxn Rap, Trap and Hip-Hop voices from the MENA region. Following a 5-day creative residency filled with workshops, sharing sessions, field visits and talks, the eight selected artists from Egypt, Sudan, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia and Lebanon will be taking over KED with producer Noise Diva to showcase their work, alongside special guest Perrie from Egypt and an appearance by Blu Fiefer from Lebanon. Beirut and Beyond (Lebanon) and the World Culture Museums (Sweden) as well as Mind the Gap, with the generous support of the Swedish Institute, joined forces to make this event happen. Both partners attempt to address the gender gap in the aforementioned music genres under the Rap and Beyond project.

The detailed program :

The artistic program will take place at KED, Karantina. On Friday, May 26th with Sabine Salamé from Lebanon, Laila Beshara from Egypt, Minerva from Morocco, Nayomi from Iraq and Sweden, featuring a special guest on the 27th: Perrie from Egypt, alongside Frizzy from Morocco, Medusa from Tunisia, Xena Elshazli from Egypt, Nadine El Roubi from Sudan and the US, and a DJ set by Kamera. Doors open at 9:00 p.m.

When it comes to workshops, preceding the performances on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th of May, Nadine El Roubi, residency participant from Sudan/USA and Perrie, special guest from Egypt, will be hosting workshops at Fabrika, Beirut, designed specifically for interested artists residing in Lebanon, upon registration. As part of the Rap & Beyond residency, Nadine El Roubi will thus be sharing her knowledge with rising artists in Lebanon through a 2-in-1 workshop tackling different points related to PR and DIY videography, two of Nadine’s strongest suits. Perrie will share her knowledge with rising artists in Lebanon through a workshop providing insight into the creative process of her songwriting, covering everything from identity to writing one’s own bars, including tips and tricks for every step of the artistic process.
