- Iran Executes Two Men Over Links to Israeli Intelligence
Iran executed two men on Monday who had been convicted of links to Israeli intelligence services, the judiciary announced, marking the latest in a series of executions since the start of the war with Israel and the United States.
“The death sentences of Mohammad Masoom-shahi and Hamed Validi were carried out at dawn,” the judiciary’s news outlet Mizan Online reported.
According to the same source, which did not specify the date of their arrest, the two men were “members of a spy network linked to the Mossad,” Israel’s intelligence agency.They were convicted of the crime of “waging war against God” and of “collaboration with hostile groups and the Zionist regime.”
Tehran has carried out several executions since the outbreak of war with Israel and the United States on February 28. A two-week ceasefire has been in place since April 8.According to human rights organizations, Iran ranks second in the world for the number of executions, behind China.
