Israel continued airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Wednesday, even as it confirmed a halt to military operations against Iran under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire.

The move comes amid reports that Hezbollah has suspended its attacks for now, creating an asymmetrical reality on the Lebanese front where Israeli operations persist. Despite this situation, Hezbollah said that it’s close to a 'historic victory' against Israel but urged the displaced not to return home before a ceasefire in Lebanon.

The Israeli military said it had halted strikes on Iran following overnight operations but would continue combat activity in Lebanon. In a statement, the army confirmed it remains on high alert and ready to respond to any breach of the agreement with Iran, while simultaneously pursuing what it described as ongoing operations against Hezbollah.

The position aligns with earlier remarks by Benjamin Netanyahu, who made clear that the two-week ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon.

According to Lebanese sources cited by Reuters, Hezbollah ceased rocket fire toward northern Israel and Israeli forces in Lebanon in the early hours of Wednesday, in line with the broader ceasefire announced between Washington and Tehran.

The group has not yet issued an official public statement, but sources indicated that a position may be announced in response to Israel’s continued operations and its exclusion of Lebanon from the truce.

Despite the reported halt in Hezbollah attacks, Israeli forces carried out multiple airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Wednesday morning. Evacuation warnings were issued for parts of the southern city of Tyre, signaling the possibility of further imminent strikes.

At the same time, the Lebanese army urged residents to delay returning to their homes in the south due to ongoing Israeli bombardment and security risks.
