Gulf States Weather More Iranian Attacks on Monday

Countries around the Gulf region continue to weather attacks from Iran on Monday. 

Kuwait’s military stated that two naval officers were killed on duty in Iranian strikes on the country.

Smoke was also reportedly seen out of the U.S. embassy in Kuwait. A friendly fire incident also occurred in Kuwait today with three U.S. F-15E Strike Eagles mistakenly shot down.

Qatar shot down Iranian bombers coming from Iran, marking the first time that a Gulf country has hit Iranian jets. 

Qatar also shut down its Liquified Natural Gas production, an important Qatari export that produces 20% of the world’s supply.

Saudi Arabia has expressed concerns that Iran could target its oil fields and facilities, which it warns would trigger a military response. Saudi officials said that its response in this scenario would be to target Iranian oil facilities.

In addition, A drone hit a fuel tank terminal in Abu Dhabi, causing a fire but not resulting in any injuries.

Bahrain, Qatar, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi all reported blasts on Monday.

Iranian officials have stated that they are not at war with Gulf states, but sees U.S. bases and assets as legitimate targets. 

Despite this, Gulf states collectively continue to condemn Iranian attacks on their territory.
