In a statement to This is Beirut, a senior U.S. official expressed that Hezbollah’s involvement in the war with Iran was a blunder and the organization will see consequences.
“Hezbollah has made a grave mistake by entering this war at Iran’s direction,” the official said.
They added that “This is a deliberate act of escalation and a direct challenge to the United States, our Gulf partners, and Israel.”
“If Hezbollah continues down this path,” the official continued, “it will be met with overwhelming and sustained force.”
Outlining the consequences that Hezbollah could face by opening a front against Israel in the war with Iran, the official stated that Hezbollah’s “leadership, its military infrastructure, and its operational capabilities will be systematically targeted and destroyed.
