Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes on Saturday targeting the Wadi Barghiz area in southern Lebanon, in what the Israeli military described as operations against Hezbollah infrastructure.

The raids focused on the area between al-Rayhan and Sajad, situated between the Tuffah region and the district of Jezzine, as well as the vicinity of Balat-Marjayoun, Al-Qatrani, and the town of Al-Sarira. Strikes were reported near residential homes, along the Litani River, and on the outskirts of Al-Dalaffa. Meanwhile, an Israeli helicopter dropped explosive devices on two boats, according to local reports.

Intense Israeli warplane activity was also reported over the city of Saida and its eastern outskirts at low altitude. Aircraft were additionally seen flying over several towns in the Bekaa Valley.

In response, Israeli army Arabic-language spokesman Avichay Adraee said that Israeli forces had “just attacked infrastructure belonging to the terrorist organization Hezbollah in several areas in southern Lebanon.”

Writing on X, Adraee stated that the army had targeted launch pads and underground tunnel openings used by Hezbollah “to advance terrorist plans against Israeli forces and the State of Israel.”

He added that Hezbollah had recently been operating within the targeted infrastructure in an effort to rebuild its capabilities, describing the activity as a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and a threat to the State of Israel.

“The Israeli army will not allow the terrorist organization Hezbollah to rebuild its strength or rearm, and will continue to work to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel,” he said.

The strikes came before and during the Israeli-U.S. attack on Iran on Saturday, further heightening regional tensions.
