At 10:00 a.m. EST, the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa will convene a hearing titled “U.S. Policy Toward Lebanon: Obstacles to Dismantling Hezbollah’s Grip on Power” to assess the political, security, and institutional challenges confronting U.S.
policy in Lebanon. The hearing will feature testimony exclusively from The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, including The Honorable David Schenker, Taube Senior Fellow; Hanin Ghaddar, Friedmann Senior Fellow; and Dana Stroul, Director of Research and Shelly and Michael Kassen Senior Fellow. The witnesses will examined Hezbollah’s entrenched influence over Lebanese state institutions, the limitations of current U.S. and international approaches, and potential policy options aimed at supporting Lebanese sovereignty and regional stability.
