- U.S. Sanctions Senior IRGC Officials Over Crackdown on Iranian Protesters

The U.S. Department of Treasury sanctioned six officials from the IRGC over their role in the Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown on demonstrators on Friday.
Among those listed are Minister of the Interior Eskandar Momeni Kalagari, leader of the IRGC intelligence organization Majid Khademi, and four provincial IRGC commanders.
This development follows new EU sanctions targeting senior Iranian officials involved in the regime’s violence against protesters and a designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization on Thursday.
Last Friday, the U.S. sanctioned vessels in the Iranian shadow fleet, impacting Iran’s ability to export oil and natural gas.
On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio revoked the travel privileges of senior Iranian officials and their families to the U.S. in enacting further constraints.
