Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to present plans for a potential strike on Iran to U.S. President Donald Trump during his forthcoming visit to the United States, NBC News reports, citing several unnamed officials.
According to the report, Israel is increasingly alarmed that Iran is rebuilding, and possibly expanding, its ballistic missile production following the 12‑day war in June.
The report also says Israel is concerned that Iran is restoring its nuclear enrichment program, which was severely damaged by Israeli strikes and later by U.S. attacks.
While Israel has publicly described Iran’s nuclear ambitions as an existential threat, officials quoted by NBC News say Jerusalem currently views the ballistic missile program as the more urgent danger.
“The nuclear weapons program is very concerning. There’s an attempt to reconstitute. It’s not that immediate,” a source familiar with Israel’s plans told NBC News.
“But the threat of the missiles is very real, and we weren’t able to stop them all last time,” another source said.
Netanyahu and Trump are expected to meet next week at the U.S. president’s Mar‑a‑Lago resort in Florida.
Israel declined to comment on the report.
In response to NBC News, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said, “As President Trump has said, if Iran pursued a nuclear weapon, that site would be attacked and would be wiped out before they even got close.”
