- BDL Preparing a “Christmas Gift” for Depositors

Reliable sources confirm that the Banque du Liban (BDL) is preparing to raise monthly withdrawal limits for depositors under Circulars 158 and 166 in December.
Reliable sources within the Banque du Liban (BDL) indicate that the withdrawal limits set under Circulars No. 166 and No. 158 are expected to be raised in December, described internally as a “Christmas gift” for depositors.
Ongoing discussions aim to gradually increase the monthly withdrawal amounts, depending on the BDL’s available liquidity.
Under the proposed adjustment, beneficiaries of Circular No. 166 could soon withdraw USD 500 per month, up from the current USD 400.
Meanwhile, those covered by Circular No. 158 would see their monthly ceiling rise from USD 800 to USD 1,000.
These adjustments form part of the Central Bank’s broader policy to gradually reimburse depositors, while maintaining a balance with its liquidity constraints.
