In the coming 48 hours, beneficiaries of Banque du Liban (BDL) Circulars 158 and 166, related to exceptional withdrawals of fresh dollars, will receive updates regarding potential amendments. A source close to the Central Bank has indicated that the number of monthly payments available to eligible depositors will be reduced to two, instead of the three exceptionally granted in September by the Central Bank's Council and implemented in October.

The delay in decision-making is reportedly due to the Acting Governor’s prolonged absence in October due to travel abroad.

Moreover, a banking source has suggested that two monthly payments may be issued instead of the single payment that has been standard since the implementation of Circular 158 in June 2021 and Circular 166 in 2024. This source noted that the Central Council is expected to make a decision soon, allowing banks adequate time to prepare. The two monthly payments are anticipated to take place in December.
