Prime Minister Nawaf Salam convened a ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail on Thursday afternoon to address the repercussions of Hezbollah’s illumination of Raoucheh Rock in defiance of a government decision.

According to sources, Minister of Health Rakan Nassereddine, Minister of Environment Tamara el-Zein and Minister of Administrative Development Fadi Makki did not attend due to prior commitments, and not as an act of boycotting the session.

After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri said the session was held to reaffirm the government’s solidarity and its commitment to extending the Lebanese state’s sovereignty across all its territories. He added that the law must be applied equally “to all citizens without exception, which places a great responsibility on the security agencies to achieve this.”

Mitri described the recent illumination of Raoucheh Rock as a “clear violation of the terms of the permit granted for the gathering,” saying it “prompts the government to take the necessary legal measures to preserve the authority of the state and uphold its decisions.”

“It goes without saying that the government is committed to the country’s stability, the unity of its citizens, and to stopping campaigns of hatred that undermine our national life,” he concluded.

Prior to the session, Prime Minister Salam held a separate meeting with Minister of Defense Michel Menassa, Minister of Justice Adel Nassar and Minister of Interior Ahmad al-Hajjar.
