Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani on Monday launched the Aradina project, a four-year program to be implemented in partnership with CIHEAM Montpellier, Action Against Hunger and Fair Trade Lebanon.

Aradina is funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) and aims to support 2,500 farmers and 145 cooperatives across Lebanon in adopting sustainable agricultural and ecological practices.

The ceremony was attended by government officials, diplomats, international organizations, civil society representatives, and a large number of farmers and agricultural cooperatives.

Minister Hani noted that the initiative is part of the Ministry’s 2025–2026 strategy, which focuses on supporting farmers affected by ongoing crises, strengthening their skills, improving market access, and promoting environmentally friendly farming methods.

“Aradina marks a key step towards a greener, more resilient Lebanese agriculture,” he said, expressing his gratitude to the project’s partners and those working on the ground.

The launch event also served as an opportunity to outline the project’s main objectives, share field experiences, and spark dialogue on the role of cooperatives and SMEs in building a fairer and more sustainable agricultural sector.
