The Lebanese Army (LAF) received on Wednesday a donation of 30 tons of medical equipment and supplies from the Italian authorities during a ceremony at the Military Medical Center.

The event was attended by Silvia Tosi, representing Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Marcelli, the head of the Military Medical Center on behalf of Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, and the commander of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Major General Diodato Abagnara, along with several senior officers.

In his address, Administrative Brigadier General Dani Bisharawi, head of the Military Medical Corps, described the donation as “the best proof of Italy’s confidence in the performance of the military institution responsible for maintaining security and stability throughout Lebanon.”

For her part, the Italian envoy’s representative reaffirmed her country’s commitment to supporting the army, underscoring its central role in preserving Lebanon’s stability and confronting current challenges. UNIFIL’s commander also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation with the Lebanese Army under UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the need to strengthen its capacities.
