A massive wildfire broke out in the forests of Qammouaa, located in Akkar, one of Lebanon’s oldest and most precious natural treasures.

The fire has consumed centuries-old cedars, firs, and pines that had survived for hundreds of years despite natural challenges and human impact. Local residents have been doing their best to contain the blaze using limited resources.

Given the severity of the situation, residents and environmental activists have called on the Lebanese army for urgent help, requesting military helicopters to support firefighting efforts before the forest is completely destroyed.

Lebanon has been experiencing a heatwave for several days, and the Civil Defense has issued fire alerts since Monday.
