The Lebanese Army carried out a series of targeted operations on Thursday in different parts of the Bekaa region, resulting in clashes with wanted individuals.
In a morning statement, the army command reported that a unit, supported by an intelligence patrol, raided several homes in Bir el-Abed, Baabda. During the operation, four individuals (A. Ch., H. Ch., M. Ch., and B. Ch.) were arrested for opening fire on military forces.
Elsewhere, 78 Syrian nationals were detained at the Assi (Hermel) and Chadra (Akkar) checkpoints for being illegally present on Lebanese territory. All detainees are now under investigation.
According to media sources, one of the fugitives in Bir el-Abed attempted to escape arrest by jumping from his home’s balcony. His current condition remains unknown.
Local channel MTV also reported that the army conducted raids in the Charawneh neighborhood of Baalbek in search of suspects.
Armed clashes also took place between military units and gunmen near Jamaliya, in the eastern Bekaa plain.
