On the sidelines of the 10XICT conference, sponsored by Minister of Telecommunications Charles Hage, CEO of mobile operator Alfa Jad Nassif outlined the main features of ongoing projects aimed at modernizing the network and improving service quality. Indeed, Alfa has embarked on a three-year network modernization plan, with investments covering 80% of infrastructure and network components, in order to prepare them for 5G and the digital shift.

Nassif specified that these investments now represent 17% of the company's revenues, compared to 7% in 2024, thanks to the support of the Minister of Telecommunications.

He also announced the completion of Alfa's new data center, built to international standards. This center will strengthen service continuity and contingency plans and enable partnerships with technology companies, with a view to further integrate artificial intelligence into Alfa's services.

In terms of national coverage, Alfa plans to strengthen its radio network (RAN), install new stations and decommission its 2G network by the end of 2025. The operator is also optimizing the performance of its stations with 3CC and 4CC technologies. Alfa is continuing its energy transition strategy, with 33% of its network powered by solar energy, representing an annual increase of 11%.

In addition, a feasibility study is underway for the deployment of 5G, with an initial phase targeting between 100 and 150 stations in high-traffic areas.

Digital technology is now at the heart of the operator's strategy. 350,000 subscribers use Alfa's online services and 17,000 interact each month via Chatbot and Live Chat. Data accounts for 65% of the company's revenue, with 64% of traffic generated by social media. Alfa intends to support these growing uses by integrating more artificial intelligence tools.

Finally, Alfa says it is fully prepared for the summer season, anticipating a 10% increase in data consumption. Average monthly traffic per subscriber already stands at 9.2 GB, 93% of which is consumed on the 4G+ network. The company also plans to fully digitize its network operations center (NOC) to optimize service quality through artificial intelligence.
