Israel is claiming a significant blow to Iran’s ballistic capabilities as direct confrontation between the two rivals enters its fourth day.
In a statement Monday, Israeli military spokesperson Major General Effie Defrin announced that over 120 surface-to-surface missile launchers inside Iran were destroyed in a large-scale operation. The strikes, reportedly carried out by more than 50 Israeli fighter jets and military aircraft, allegedly wiped out one-third of Iran’s launch capacity of this type.
“More than 50 aircraft conducted targeted strikes, destroying over 120 launchers. This represents a third of Iran’s surface-to-surface missile capabilities,” Defrin said.
The Israeli military also claims its defense systems intercepted a significant number of Iranian missiles, describing the response as highly effective. Simultaneously, Israel says it has intensified its strikes on missile sites and command centers belonging to the Iranian Air Force.
According to Defrin, four senior Iranian intelligence officials were killed in the operation, including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence unit. Twenty bases belonging to Iran’s elite Quds Force were also reportedly targeted.
“We have total control of Iran’s airspace,” Defrin stated. “What we achieved in Lebanon, Gaza, and the West Bank is now unfolding in Iran.”
The announcement comes amid escalating hostilities, with Israel carrying out direct strikes deep inside Iranian territory.
The attacks mark a turning point in Israel-Iran tensions, raising fears of a broader military conflict in the Middle East.
