President Donald Trump told a news network Sunday it remains possible the United States will become involved in the Iran-Israel conflict and that he would be "open" to Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin being a mediator.

"It's possible we could get involved" in the ongoing battle between the Middle East arch-foes, Trump said in an interview, according to ABC News, which said the Republican president stressed that the United States is "not at this moment" involved in the military action.

As for Putin being a potential mediator in the conflict, "he is ready. He called me about it. We had a long talk about it," Trump told an ABC News reporter.

Trump made comments today regarding the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, revealing that several meetings and contacts are currently taking place to address the situation.

Trump emphasized his commitment to working towards peace in the Middle East, stating that he will “make the Middle East great again.” Drawing comparisons to his previous efforts in facilitating dialogue between India and Pakistan, Trump expressed confidence in his ability to achieve a breakthrough in the Iran-Israel conflict.

“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make,” he said, alluding to his past involvement in facilitating peace talks between the two South Asian nations.

Trump remained optimistic about the future of the region, asserting, “We will have peace soon between Israel and Iran.” He urged both nations to work toward an agreement, “Iran and Israel must reach an agreement,” signaling his ongoing interest in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
