Interior Minister Ahmad al-Hajjar confirmed Monday that the complete results of Lebanon’s elections would be released within 24 hours, denying any delays or irregularities in the vote-counting process.
“There are no issues, and if there were, we would have addressed them. There is no delay,” Hajjar stated during an inspection tour alongside Justice Minister Adel Nassar.
Hajjar emphasized that ballot counting had been conducted “quickly and accurately” across all regions, with only a few final results, such as those from Baalbeck, still en route.
“Some results have already been announced, and the rest will follow shortly,” he added.
The visit aimed to review the sorting process and commend the efforts of judges and election staff. “This visit is to meet with the minister of justice, who is overseeing the process with the judges and employees who have worked tirelessly,” Hajjar said.
For his part, Justice Minister Nassar echoed Hajjar’s remarks, praising the transparency and dedication of those involved. “When a so-called delay occurs, it simply means the judge is staying another night to ensure the accuracy of the results,” he said, noting that the counting had taken place in the presence of political delegates and without any complaints.
Nassar further underscored that the priority was the integrity of the process, not the speed. “As long as judges are working, it means they are ensuring the proper conduct of the count,” he concluded.
